Haley’s nose behaved itself this weekend. We journeyed to Escalante for yet another snake-free weekend of camping and hiking. I’ll admit, I was nervous about the snakes, but I figured the chances of a bite happening again are so slim, I shouldn’t worry too much. That, and we had a vet along for the fun.
It was a girls weekend, comprised of three humans, and three canines. Me, Haley, Jemma, Molly, Patti, and Bacci left Friday morning and got back late last night. We explored slickrock caverns and mazes of hoodoos, learned about the night sky, meandered the Escalante River, twice, wined and dined at the finest wine-dineries, and finished with a big, awesome hike to the rim of Death Hollow. The dogs ran, swam, chased bunnies, and didn’t get bitten by snakes. They wore themselves out good, and a tired dog is a happy dog.
It’s so incredible out there. Huge expanses of land with no people. I hope it stays that way forever.
