bio
My name is Sarah Ause. When you put these two words together, you get the name of this website, my nickname since the first grade. I'm a newspaper photographer now calling Utah home, which despite the fact that I live in a town that actually banned bikinis and wants all women to be housewives and have 12 kids, really isn't so bad. What the area lacks in brain cells, it makes up for in scenic beauty. Utah (this part especially) is just a giant outdoor playground, and I like to play in it. Outside the outside, I spend my time doing yoga, listening to public radio, and cleaning cat boxes. I am the proud parent of two feline furballs affectionately referred to as Dammit Cat and Stop It, two gay birds, and an immigrant puppy dog from Ethiopia. I also foster seven six other cats (RIP Misty).

cv
I work (and play) as a photographer for Best Friends Animal Society, a non-profit animal rescue organization based in southern Utah canyon country. Previously worked as staff photographer for The Park Record (Park City, Utah) and interned with the Deseret Morning News (Salt Lake City, Utah), Jackson Hole News&Guide (Jackson, Wyo.), Metropolitan Media Group (Minneapolis, Minn.), and The Frederick News-Post (Frederick, Md.). I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2005 with a degree in journalism, and spent my college days shooting for the school paper and local community newspapers. And oddly enough, despite having no interest in photography at the time, I actually served as photographer for my high school yearbook way back when. Funny how things work out.
