pit bulls

Pit bull-type dogs make up a huge portion of dogs in America’s shelters. These dogs are often misunderstood and discriminated against simply for their breed. But the problem isn’t with pit bulls – it’s with irresponsible owners who don’t take the time to properly train and socialize their dogs. In reality, pit bulls can make loving family pets if given the opportunity to succeed. Too often, they aren’t even given the chance.

Four years ago, I stepped into the kennel of a Michael Vick fighting dog, and I’ll admit I was slightly terrified. Two minutes later, my perceptions about pit bulls were shattered forever. Having worked closely with 22 of the Vick dogs since, and regularly photographing families with wonderful pits, I can vouch for these incredible dogs as being totally loyal and lovable.
